Master’s Thesis Oral Defense Procedures (Students Enrolled Until AY 2022)
The thesis oral examination period for first-semester graduate students is from October to the end of January of the following year, while for second-semester graduate students it is from April to the end of July. Students who wish to apply for an oral examination should refer to the following instructions.
Stage 1: Application for Thesis Oral Examination
Before applying for the oral examination, please ensure that any required English course exemptions have been completed. Registration for the oral examination should be done after exemptions are confirmed.
Log in to the Student Information System to enter your thesis title and advisor. The system will print three forms:
- Advisor’s Recommendation for Master’s Thesis
- Thesis Oral Examination Committee Approval Form
- Thesis Oral Examination Evaluation Form
Submit the following documents to the department office at least 10 working days prior to the oral examination (excluding weekends and holidays):
- Master’s Thesis Oral Examination Application Form
- Advisor’s Recommendation for Master’s Thesis (printed from the Student Information System)
- Thesis Oral Examination Committee Recommendation and Examination Schedule Form
- Official Academic Transcript
- Copy of the Draft Thesis
- Originality Report, signed by the advisor for confirmation
Important Note: For students admitted from the 2016 academic year onward, the Academic Research Ethics Course is a required course.
Stage 2: During the Thesis Oral Examination
After the oral examination, please bring the Committee Approval Form to the department office for official stamping and submit the Defense Fee Receipt.
